In her Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly article “Expediting Patent Allowance with In-Person Interviews,” patent attorney Lisa Warren explains why it may be beneficial to take advantage of in-person interviews with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in order to expedite the allowance of a patent. Although options such as telephone or video conference interviews may be available and more convenient, Lisa notes:
sometimes there is simply no substitute for direct interpersonal interaction with an examiner to build rapport and improve the mutual understanding of the issues.”
