Whitehead Institute Professor Wins National Medal of Science

On September 27th, MBBP client Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research announced that President Obama has named  Rudolf Jaenisch, M.D. a recipient of the National Medal of Science. Dr. Jaenisch, a founding member of the Whitehead Institute, was awarded the nation’s highest scientific honor for “improving our understanding of epigenetic regulation of gene expression: the biological mechanisms that affect how genetic information is variably expressed. His work has led to major advances in our understanding of mammalian cloning and embryonic stem cells.”

This is the second year in a row that President Obama has awarded the National Medal of Science to a member of the Whitehead Institute.
