MBBP is thrilled to announce that client Applied BioMath, LLC is one of ten winners of the 2016 Small Business of the Year Awards (SBOY), announced by The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.  The SBOY recognizes smaller for-profit companies within the Greater Boston area who possess product innovation, workplace excellence, community and social responsibility, strong financial performance, and achievement in management.Applied BioMath Logo (M0887167xB1386)

Applied BioMath, LLC was founded in 2013 with the goal of transforming the quality and the economics of drug invention by applying advanced mathematical analysis at critical decision points in the drug invention process.  The ten award winners will be recognized at the event “Nailed It: A Conversation with Successful Business Leaders”, which will be held on October 6th.

MBBP assisted Applied BioMath in drafting its various Service Agreements with customers, among other key legal services.  Congratulations to our client in what is sure to be one of many successes!

Yottaa, Inc. Releases New Internet Service 10/25/2011

On October 11th, MBBP client Yottaa, Inc. made available a new service called Yottaa Site Speed Optimizer. The service speeds up websites for the end-user by making it easy and cost-effective through automation. The Site Speed Optimizer is targeted primarily at small to midsize businesses and costs around $29 per month but can push close to $1,000 per month, depending on website traffic.

Mayor Menino Declares November 27th “Small Business Saturday” 12/01/2010

On November 16th, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino signed a proclamation formalizing November 27th, which falls between what is traditionally two of the busiest shopping days of the year, “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday”, as “Small Business Saturday“, to help highlight the importance of supporting the city’s small businesses. “Small Business Saturday” encouraged customers to patronize locally-owned businesses that contribute to the community as well as the economy.

Massachusetts Life Sciences Center Announces New Small Business Matching Grant Program 02/02/2010

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) has announced the launch of its new Small Business Matching Grant (SBMG) Program. The program is designed to support early-stage life sciences companies and grow employment opportunities, promote manufacturing and commercialization, and stimulate innovation across the Commonwealth.

The primary objective of the SBMG is to provide grants to commercialization-ready life sciences companies that have received at least the equivalent of a Phase II small business innovation research (SBIR) or small business technology transfer (STTR) grant from federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Defense (DOD), etc. Grants will provide “matching” support – capped at $500,000 per company — to Phase II or Post Phase II SBIR or STTR grants already received by applicant companies.

MLSC is targeting an FY ’10 investment of $3 million in the Small Business Matching Grant Program.

Employment Attorney Bob SheaIn February, the Smaller Business Association of New England (SBANE) HR Committee is presenting “2010 Legal Update” seminar to bring employers up to speed on recent developments in employment law. This seminar will cover topics such as complying with wage-hour and independent contractor rules, utilizing non-compete, non-solicitation and confidentiality agreements, and modifications to the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”). Three speakers, including MBBP Employment Attorney Robert Shea, will lead the discussion through an interactive format.
