MBBP patent and trademark attorney Sean Detweiler and patent attorney Bill Schmidt are scheduled to be panelists for an upcoming event on March 23rd as they discuss “Intellectual Property: The Ins and Outs of Intellectual Property (IP)”. Sean and Bill will be answering questions as they relate to Intellectual Property, specifically patents, in order to save people time and money by answering general questions prior to a client contacting an attorney.

This event will take place on March 23rd from 2-4pm at TechSandbox, with the attorneys covering the basics of IP and patents, and a Q&A session to follow. In addition, attendees with further questions will each have the special opportunity of a one-on-one session with one of the attorneys.

MBBP’s Howard Zaharoff will be a panelist at this year’s Boston Bar Association Intellectual Property Year in Review, one of Boston’s premier annual IP events. Howard will be discussing some of the most important copyright developments of the HGZ Headshot Photo 2015 (M0846618xB1386)past year, with his co-presenter, Attorney Lucy Lovrien.

This annual panel has been organized for intellectual property specialists to discuss the latest developments with practitioners in the field. Howard and his fellow panelists will discuss patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets, and the event will close with a networking opportunity for all attendees.

Morse, Barnes-Brown, and Pendleton has welcomed three new attorneys: Joshua H. Watson, William R. Schmidt II, and Kelly L. Hinkel.

Josh and Kelly have become members of the Corporate Practice group, while Bill has joined the Patent Practice group. Josh is an experienced private funds attorney and has joined the Corporate Practice group’s Private Investment Funds & Advisers (PIFA) team. Bill is a registered patent attorney whose practice focuses on patent prosecution, opinions, and related counseling. Kelly’s practice includes advising companies on financings, corporate governance, and entity formation.

hessionMBBP is pleased to announce that veteran venture capital, technology, and life sciences attorney John Hession has joined the firm as a Member. John represents emerging-growth companies in the medical device, life sciences, software and digital media fields, as well as angels and venture capital funds in the investment process in these areas. His practice includes both start-up and later-stage company work; equity-based compensation strategies; public offerings, representing either underwriters or companies; mergers and acquisitions, representing either buyers or sellers; corporate partnering, joint ventures and other strategic alliances involving technology transfers; license and distribution arrangements for medical devices and biotechnology, software and hardware companies; and venture capital or angel financings of technology companies.

Prior to joining MBBP, John was Of Counsel in the Venture Financings and Emerging Companies practice groups and a member of the Cooley, LLP Business department. Corporate Attorney Hillary PetersonMBBP is pleased to announce that Attorney Hillary Peterson has joined the firm as an associate. Hillary concentrates her practice in the area of general corporate and securities law. She represents clients in a wide range of corporate matters including venture capital and private equity financings, mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions. Hillary also advises public and private clients in connection with corporate governance and securities matters.

Prior to joining Morse, Barnes-Brown & Pendleton, Hillary was an associate in the Business Department at Foley Hoag LLP. Hillary is a graduate of Bowdoin College and earned her law degree, cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School.

Immigration Attorney Grant GodfreyMBBP is pleased to announce that Attorney Grant Godfrey has joined the firm as an associate. Grant concentrates his practice in immigration law. Prior to Morse, Barnes-Brown & Pendleton, he was an associate at Blake J. Godbout & Associates where he worked on a variety of litigation, transactional, and bankruptcy issues.

After receiving his undergraduate degree, Grant worked as a paralegal at McNamara, Koenig & McCarthy (now McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter), and then at Morse, Barnes-Brown & Pendleton, where he focused on business-based immigration law. He then changed careers and worked at Bullhorn, a software company, as a hybrid account and project manager before attending law school.
