Looking back on developments in the world of venture capital in 2018, this past March the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) published the first major release of its model form venture capital documents since March, 2014. The NVCA forms were first developed in the early 2000s with a view towards introducing a measure of standardization to the documentation of venture capital financings. This latest update to the form documents was the culmination of a large group undertaking that included participation from many law firm and in-house venture capital lawyers from across the country. In the article The Continued Evolution of the NVCA Documents: A Summary of Major Changes, MBBP partners Jon Gworek and Scott Bleier provide a summary (with commentary) of the recent changes.
