The Jackson Laboratory Announces New Center for Personalized Medicine in Connecticut

On September 30th MBBP client The Jackson Laboratory announced its plans to expand to Connecticut with the construction of a new $1.1 billion laboratory called The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine. The focus of the lab will be personalized medicine and systems genomics research and will cover 173,500 square feet with plans for expansion. Jackson Lab will provide $809 million for the space (through federal grants, service income and philanthropy), and the state of Connecticut will contribute $291 million to that as part of the state’s new “Bioscience Connecticut” initiative.

The National Institutes of Health has also awarded The Jackson Lab $58.1 million in two separate awards to aid in some of their innovative future projects.
