MITEF Life Sciences and Healthcare SIG to Host Discussion on Entrepreneurship in the Industry

On November 19, 2009, the MITEF Life Sciences and Healthcare SIG is hosting a panel discussion featuring three exceptional life sciences and healthcare professionals who have used their knowledge and expertise to start successful businesses. The panel includes Jim Gorman, M.D., Ph.D., co-founder, CEO and CMO of BioAssets Development Corporation; Waleed Hassanein, M.D., Founder, CEO, and President of TransMedics, Inc.; and Barbara S. Fox, Ph.D., founder and CEO of Avaxia Biologics.

Noted life sciences and healthcare professionals will share their experiences and lessons learned in founding and running successful companies. They will also discuss topics including the characteristics of a successful healthcare/life sciences entrepreneur, how their education helped them create a thriving business, and how to start a company under current economic conditions and amidst healthcare reform.

The MITEF Life Sciences & Healthcare Special Interest Group is a hub for the ever-changing and growing life sciences and healthcare communities in Massachusetts. Their main focus is providing networking and educational opportunities to bring together the many different sectors of these industries. MBBP’s Lisa M. Treannie helped revive the SIG from its multi-year hiatus, establishing and serving on the SIG’s steering committee.
