This is the question clients ask me more often than any other, and rightly so.  The answer, of course, is “It depends.”  Several variables can affect cost, including whether:

  • You elect a screening search before we file
  • You are using the mark when we file
  • The trademark office approves your mark upon initial review, and
  • A third party opposes your mark.

If  you request a basic screening search, you are using the mark when we file, the trademark office upon initial review approves your mark for publication, and no third party opposes your mark, the total cost over 12-15 months, including a filing fee for one class, is about $2,500.

If the mark is not in use when we file, or the trademark office initially refuses or a third party opposes your mark, we work with you to discuss strategic considerations, filing options and associated costs.

For more information, including our Fee Schedule, please see our brochure U.S. Trademark Services.
