On July 19th, the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC) held an awards reception to announce the finalists of its 2012 Leadership Awards.  This year, seven MBBP clients were selected as finalists in the categories of: Company of the Year – Private, Company of the Year – Public, Innovative Technology of the Year – Big Data, Cloud Computing and Digital Games.

Eitan Glinert, Founder and President of the game development studio and MBBP client Fire Hose Games, was recently featured in the Entrepreneurship section of Mass High Tech. Glinert discusses who he is as a young entrepreneur, the success of Fire Hose and what the next step will be:

I think we have already been successful to some large degree. We’ve made one game and helped out with another game that people really seem to enjoy… [The next step] will be to grow Fire Hose. I don’t ever intend to leave this job. I don’t want to be a serial entrepreneur — this is my one and only startup as far as I am concerned.

Fire Hose Games Lands Distribution Deal With Sony Online 07/26/2010

Fire Hose GamesEarlier this month, MBBP client Fire Hose Games, Inc. announced they have arranged a distribution deal with one of the largest game publishers in the world, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE). Slam Bolt Scrappers, Fire Hose Games first game, will be an exclusive digital download in 2011 on the Playstation Network, a distribution platform for game developers and their games that will be used on the Playstation 3 game console or the Playstation Portable handheld device.

Boston Game Industry Scores at MIT BiG Conference 04/20/2010

Friday, April 16th, MBBP Co-Sponsored the second annual MIT Sloan Business in Gaming (BiG) Conference boasting nearly 300 attendees at the Microsoft N.E.R.D. Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The conference was broken into eight different panel discussions including topics such as “Gaming Companies Financial Analytics” and “Hollywood, Music and Gaming.” Some of the panelists included executives from three MBBP clients: Brian Balfour, VP of Product Marketing from Viximo, Eduardo Baraf, Director of Blue Fang Games, and Eitan Glinert, Founder of Fire Hose Games, as well as former Red Sox pitcher and current Founder and Chairman of 38 Studios, Curt Schilling.

A post-conference reception was hosted by the MIT New England Games SIG, of which MBBP’s Mike Cavaretta is chairperson.

Fire Hose GamesOn January 27, Eitan Glinert, founder of MBBP client Fire Hose Games, will be speaking at a Webinar hosted by the International Game Developers Association (IGDA). He will provide a walkthrough on videogame iterative prototyping and provide examples from games his company created. This discussion is aimed towards new developers; however, those experienced in the industry will find it beneficial as well.
